BGG Events Harrassment Policy/Code of Conduct

Hello Gamers,

We are really glad you are attending a BGG@SEA and are excited to play games with you. Just a quick reminder of the rules and consequences for playing games at BGG@SEA. (If you want to read the fine print, read all the way to the end.)

  1. Be Kind and Respectful - Speak kindly and positively about others. Do not insult others or put them down, even in joking. Avoid gossip of any kind and avoid speaking in anger. No cursing, swearing or using ugly words or gestures. No bullying. Do not tell jokes or stories about someone behind their back.

  2. Be Prepared - Read the rules ahead of time and be on time.

  3. Look Good - If you can wear it to school or out in public, then you can probably wear it while gaming at BGG@SEA.

  4. Age-limit - BGG@SEA allows all ages to join us on the cruise.

  5. Play from start to finish - BE ON TIME or a little bit early to your game and use good manners all the way through.

  6. Have Fun! Make new friends!

Pretty simple, right? So what happens if there is a problem?

If you are having a problem within the spaces/events specifically designated for BGG@SEA, contact a BGG Staff member (in the orange jerseys).  If you have issues with individuals on the cruise line or in spaces or at events not related to BGG, please contact the cruise line's customer service/security staff.

If someone in your game has a problem with something you are doing, and they ask you to stop, you must stop it. If you choose not to stop it, and BGG Events Staff members are notified, then the BGG Events Staff will talk with you (and potentially parents/guardians if you are under 18) and you may be removed from the convention and not able to play anymore.

Looking forward to playing great games with you,

- BGG Events Staff

Below are the Harassment Guidelines, the Code of Conduct and rules for Reporting Unacceptable Behavior. Please read and familiarize yourself with them before joining the BGG Events community. Failure to adhere to the guidelines will result in consequences for unacceptable behavior.

Harassment Guidelines

Code of Conduct is specified later on this page. The Code of Conduct applies to all policies supporting BGG events.

Event Guidelines

BGG Events are friendly and fun places where the community and BGG staff can interact. Our community is always growing, and we've come up with a few ground rules to consider when attending.

There are all kinds of gamers attending BGG Events. Using derogatory labels for other gamers can be hurtful and isolate others who enjoy different styles of play. Disagreements are bound to happen. If you find yourself in a debate, focus on challenging the idea, rather than the others in the conversation. Remember that there's another person on the other side of the table. Please help us keep it fun!

Next Generation Gamers Present

BGG@SEA is friendly to all gamers, and children and teenagers may be playing games too! When scheduling/hosting a game, please be sure to indicate the age range for your game. And when choosing to participate in a game/event, please be respectful of the age range specified.

Do not abuse, defame, harass, threaten, intimidate or stalk others while attending any BGG Event. Community members should feel welcome while they're attending.

Making comments solely to provoke a strong negative reaction or conflict do not contribute to the inviting place we'd like our community to be.

Profanity/Vulgar Speech

While certain language may not be offensive to you, please consider that some words and phrases may have a completely different effect on someone else.

Malicious Speech

Comments that contain content endorsing hatred or violence on the basis of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sexuality, or for any other reason are not welcome at BGG Events.

Claiming to be other community members in order to obtain admittance to BGG Events is considered harassment and fraud. When this is discovered, the attendee will be required to remove themselves from BGG Events and risk permanent ban from future events.

Spam can include placing advertisements/flyers that have not been pre-approved by BGG Events Staff. This is not allowed.

Illegal Activity

Do not advocate or disclose intent to commit illegal activities while attending BGG Events. This includes (but is not limited to) activities that encourage fraud, piracy, or violence.

Remember that the above guidelines are not hard and fast rules for every situation that may arise. These guidelines are subject to change as necessary.

Violating any of these guidelines may result in an attendee's removal, temporary suspension, or permanent removal from the BGG Events community.

If you have a question regarding any portion of these guidelines, please contact a BGG Events staff member (Orange Jersey) or email

Code of Conduct

We believe that games are for everyone. We are committed to fostering a fun, inclusive, and safe environment for all attendees, volunteers, publishers, speakers, media representatives, partner companies, and staff (collectively, "gamers"), free from discrimination for any reason, including age, body size, disability, gender expression, gender identity, nationality, physical appearance, race, religious beliefs or background, sexual orientation, or other differences.

This code of conduct outlines our expectations for gamers' behavior and consequences for unacceptable behavior. We invite all gamers to help us ensure that events hosted by BGG Events are a safe and positive experience for everyone.

Expected Behavior

All gamers are expected to be considerate and respectful toward fellow gamers. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Dress and appearance being similar to dress and appearance when in general public places
  • Ensuring noise levels are kept to a reasonable level
  • Using the preferred names and pronouns of other gamers
  • Obtaining permission before photographing or recording other gamers and stopping if asked (in the case of a minor, you must obtain the permission of the minor's parent or guardian)
  • Complying with requests to stop unacceptable behavior
  • Complying with all other BGG Events policies (including those regarding supervision of minors)
  • Alerting Team Geek volunteers or BGG Events Staff if you notice unacceptable behavior or someone in distress
  • And, contacting emergency authorities immediately if you notice an urgent situation

Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behaviors include, but are not limited to:

  • Vulgar, intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning conduct (whether verbal, physical, written, or electronic)
  • Stalking or following (whether physical or virtual)
  • Photographing or recording gamers without their permission (or the permission of a parent or guardian in the case of minors)
  • Sustained or repeated disruption of BGG events or interruption of other gamers
  • Inappropriate or unwelcome sexual attention and behavior, including unwanted sexual language or gestures, sharing of unsolicited sexual imagery or sexting, and use of nudity or sexual images in public spaces
  • Illegal activities or acts
  • Inciting any of the behavior above
  • Any other behavior that BGG Administration deems inappropriate

Reporting Unacceptable Behavior

If you have issues with individuals on the cruise line or in spaces or at events not related to BGG, please contact the cruise line's customer service/security staff.

If you are subject to unacceptable behavior, notice that someone else is being subject to unacceptable behavior, or have concerns that this Code of Conduct or the Harassment Guidelines are not being followed, notify a BGG Events Staff member or e-mail any of the following as soon as possible:

If you would prefer to work one on one, you may contact one of the following:

Do not engage the offender.

  • BGG Events Staff will take all necessary steps to assist participants in feeling safe, including imposing consequences for unacceptable behavior and making sure that participants feel safe during the convention. We will record a report of any incidents. Incident reports will remain confidential with the exception of criminal matters, which we will report to law enforcement. However, we will take into account any concerns you may have about involving law enforcement.

  • In some cases, unacceptable behavior may stop if you clearly say "No" or "Please leave me alone," or simply leave the situation. In these cases, we would appreciate it if BGG Events Staff are still informed to help us identify any repeat offenders.
